Therapeutic Services for Teens in Pennsylvania, New Jersey, Florida & West Virginia
At Juniper Tree Counseling, we specialize in providing compassionate and heart-centered therapeutic services for teenagers in Pennsylvania, New Jersey, Florida and West Virginia.
Being young and newer to this world is challenging, especially for teens who have experienced trauma, struggle with anxiety, or are neurodiverse. Our approach is as unique as each teen themselves, helping them heal, grow, and thrive in a safe environment that allows them to show up as their authentic self.
Whether your teen has faced trauma within their social network, struggles with anxiety, or feels misunderstood due to being neurodiverse, our team of experienced therapists is here to provide the support and tools needed to navigate these challenges. At Juniper Tree Counseling, we build strong, authentic relationships with each teen we work with in order to support them with their healing and growth.
Holistic and Evidence-Based Therapy for Teenagers
Eco-therapy for Teens
We believe in a holistic approach to therapy that includes a blend of evidence-based modalities and nature-based practices. One of the core therapies we offer is eco-therapy, or “walk-and-talk” therapy, where we take our sessions outdoors to connect with nature. This approach can help reduce anxiety and calm the nervous system, making it easier for teens to engage in the therapeutic process and feel heard. Neurodiverse teens in particular may benefit from this approach, as the calming effect of the natural environment supports them in becoming more grounded and focused.
EMDR for Teens
In addition to eco-therapy, we also offer EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing), a highly effective treatment for trauma. EMDR helps teens process distressing memories and experiences, reducing triggers and other trauma symptoms. This evidence-based approach is especially beneficial for teens who have experienced trauma or teens who are struggling with chronic anxiety.
IFS Therapy for Teens
We are passionate about integrating Internal Family Systems (IFS) therapy into our work with teens. IFS is an evidence-based, empowering and transformative approach that helps teens develop a deeper understanding of their inner world by recognizing and nurturing all the different parts of themselves. This modality encourages compassionate witnessing of their whole self—embracing every emotion, thought, and experience without judgment.
Teens often face overwhelming internal conflicts, such as battling feelings of insecurity, anxiety, or anger. IFS provides a way for them to separate from these intense emotions, helping them to see that these feelings are only parts of who they are, not their entire identity. By identifying and understanding the different parts of themselves, teens can gain the ability to respond to their emotional needs with kindness and understanding. IFS teaches teens to hold nuance, meaning they can acknowledge that their feelings are complex and multifaceted, and they don't have to choose between them. This is especially important when navigating adolescence, where emotions can often feel chaotic and difficult to understand.
Through IFS, we guide teens in learning how to self-soothe—developing the internal tools needed to calm and comfort themselves during times of stress or emotional overwhelm. This helps them feel more in control of their emotions, reduce reactivity, and build emotional resilience. By gently guiding teens through this process, we help them create a healthier, more compassionate relationship with themselves that can last long after therapy has ended.
Therapy for Neurodiverse Teens
We love supporting our neurospicy teens! At Juniper Tree Counseling, we recognize that neurodiverse teens require a unique and compassionate approach to therapy. Our heart-centered method is designed to honor each teen’s authentic self and help support them in a world that can often be affirming of the unique ways their brains think, learn, and grow.
We tailor our therapy to each teen’s specific sensory processing, communication style, and emotional needs, ensuring they feel seen and validated in a way that respects their neurodiversity. By using a compassionate and patient approach, we help neurodiverse teens develop greater self-awareness, improve emotional regulation, and strengthen their ability to communicate their feelings effectively and bravely. We provide tools that help them navigate social interactions, manage anxiety, and embrace their unique identity with confidence.
Our goal is to empower neurodiverse teens to thrive in a world that often doesn’t accommodate their needs, while fostering a deep sense of self-compassion and belonging.
Supporting LGBTQ+ Teens with Compassion and Affirmation
Our practice is committed to creating a supportive, inclusive, and affirming space for LGBTQ+ teens. Adolescence can be a time of self-discovery, and for many LGBTQ+ teens, this journey may come with challenges related to identity, acceptance, and navigating societal pressures.
Our warm, heart-centered approach is designed to help LGBTQ+ teens feel safe to explore their authentic selves, free from judgment. We offer a supportive environment where teens can discuss their feelings, experiences, and concerns about gender identity, sexual orientation, and the complexities of coming out. Our therapists are committed to providing affirming support that nurtures confidence, self-acceptance, and emotional well-being.
By offering guidance tailored to each teen’s individual experience, we help them build resilience and cope with any struggles related to identity, relationships, or societal stigma. Above all, we strive to ensure that every LGBTQ+ teen knows they are valued, loved, and empowered to live authentically.
